Sainthood wins at Pocono Downs!
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (October 12, 2026) — Sainthood made it look methodical at Pocono Downs. Sent off at 2.50-1, the second choice in the wagering, in a $16,000 trot for non-winners of $11,750 in their last five starts, the 5-year-old gelding, trained by Joe Pavia Jr. and driven by Anthony Napolitano, took control before the half and held off the field to win by ¾ of a length in 1:53.4.
Starting from the rail, he was fourth, 3 lengths back, at the first quarter (27.3), then moved to the front, leading by 1¼ lengths at the half (56.0). He held that margin through the three-quarters (1:24.1) and the stretch call, and was all out at the wire with a last quarter in 29.3.
One After Nine, driven by Jim Pantaleano, was second in 1:54.0, with the 2.20-1 favorite Give Me A Yankee third in the same time. Sainthood paid $7.00 to win, and the $2 exacta (1-3) returned $81.20.
Sainthood, by International Moni out of Truffles, was bred by Winbak Farm and is owned by Bay Pond Racing Stable.
