The month of June was a great month for the Joe Pavia Jr. Stable and the owners of Art Two D Two and Ruffles Kiss! The stakes wins started on June 10th with Art Two D Two winning a NYSS event at Monticello Raceway for a purse of $36,793. Art Two D Two had the rail and controlled the pace winning wire to wire in 156:1 for driver Joe Pavia Jr. Art Two D Two won his second consecutive stake race when he won a $55,440 NYSS race at Yonkers Raceway on June 28th. Starting from post 2 the 3 year old Art Major gelding grabed the early lead in 27 and let the favorite Joey The Czar take the lead past the qurater pole. As the field turned for home, Art Two D Two was tipped out of the two hole by catch driver George Brennan and took the lead winning by a head in 154:4. Art Two D two pushed his seasonal earnings to $89,682 in 10 starts in 2010 for owners Steven Held, DiJo Racing Stable, Mike Rich and Dawn Marie Pavia.

The 3 year old filly Ruffles Kiss was not to be out done by her male stable mate in the month of June. On June 18th at Chester Race Track, the 3 year old filly won her $87,320 PA Sire Stake in a impressive first over 151:4 victory. In her next start on June 29th, the $87,320 PA. Sire Stakes shifted over to Pocono Downs. This time she faced the tough filly Dancinwiththestarz. Having a home field advantage may have been her only advantage going up against this tough filly. As Jim Morrill sent Dancinwiththestarz to the lead, Ruffles Kiss got away 5th. Approaching the half mile, Joe Pavia Jr. moved Ruffles Kiss up and toward the leader in a 27:2 third quarter. It turned into a two horse race approaching the 5/8 mile pole with Dancinwiththestarz rebuffing the challenge of Ruffles Kiss. At this time, Ruffles Kiss was able to drop in the two hole and save ground as the two fillies pulled away from the field on the final turn. It looked as if the race might be over until mid stretch when Pavia moved Ruffles Kiss up the passing lane and paced by Dancinwiththestarz to get up by a neck in 152 in a gutzy performance.
